Support for People with Intellectual Disabilities

Host Home Model

Belonging

The goal of many Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities is to live as independently as possible. Not everyone is quite ready to live completely on their own. What is the Host Home Model like? It is what many of us take for granted; a home. It is the closest option to a naturalized living setting available for many Intellectually Disabled persons. Host homes offer all of the same criteria of a group home set forth in Dessert Regional Center Standards of Service Provision, including documentation, DSP training, background checks, and environmental requirements, with an emphasis on home and family. In Essence; BELONGING.

Mission

The mission of Community Placement of Nevada is to help people embrace a quality of life that positively supports inclusion in a real life integrated environment. To provide the highest quality of services with integrity, transparency, and accountability without compromise to the process of listening and understanding. Community Placement of Nevada…locally owned, locally operated, a true community provider.

Philosophy

Long-term commitment to enable ability, empower self-direction in the least restrictive environment. Ethical responsibility of service to the core needs, interests, dignity and completeness of each person served.

Who we are at CPN

Experienced Professionals with a Fresh Company

Phil and Vicky Allen, and Scott Tillotson are very pleased to open Community Placement of Nevada for 2020. Scott and Phil worked together at the same agency for three years as PSR/DSP workers with a slightly younger population. They recognized within each other that they were more than just filling a role as staff, as both had a passion for the person in care. They realized that they could build a unique agency based on that compassion, trust, and a desire to bring together like minded people that would develop a culture of superior service. Community Placement of Nevada IS that agency.

After working together, Scott and Phil went in different but parallel directions. Phil and Vicky partnered in the formation of a foster care agency. This included recruiting, training, licensing and supporting foster parents/homes and the children residing there. For the last seven years Scott worked with a DRC certified agency with an extensive Host Home background. Over the last 4 years, Scott spearheaded the introduction of the host home model to Nevada personally placing over 40 people. There is finally an alternative to life in a group home with natural long term continuity.
